THE HOUSEMAN STORY
The creation of above-averageness
Houseman Arts was forged in a small flat in Folkestone, Kent in the early 1990s. It originally operated as a cottage industry, and a fairly small cottage at that. In fact, if we're being perfectly honest, it was more of a shed than a cottage, but as nobody at all says: mighty factories from tiny sheds do grow. There was then a short period of some 20+ years of relative inactivity, during which I (the proprietor) got interrupted, and forgot what I was doing.
I’m back now though, and fortuitously in the intervening time something called the World Wide Web became quite popular, and together with anti-social media this now provides a far more effective way of achieving crippling obscurity than putting flyers through people’s letterboxes.
The intended mission of Housman Arts is to provide an open market place where artists can raise their profile amongst a wider audience, show off a little, and perhaps even make enough money to switch on the second bar of the electric fire next winter. Oh yes, and there’s also some Houseman Arts branded items which the proprietor would be awfully pleased to share with the rest of the world, or maybe just the rest of his street.
Anyhow, because the company (and I use the word "company" quite wrongly), is still a mere fledgling, there’s still a lot of work to do to get everything up and running (including most of this website). We welcome feedback though, so if you have any questions or comments about the site or our services, please use the “Get in Touch” link below.
Thanks for visiting the site. The potter’s wheel picture on this page is currently more symbolic of an interlude than any service that’s currently offered, but if you’re about to become a very successful potter, that could all change - please get in touch!
